So you want to survive the no flour no sugar diet right? But you see that it’s cutting out half of your diet, here are a few tips to help you.
1. Avoid all products containing flour. This includes rice, wheat, corn flacks, white flours, corn etc. Yes pastas gotta go as well.
2. Replace yoru flour products with whole grains. Instead of refined pasta, buy whole wheat flour. Instead of “wheat bread” buy “whole wheat bread.” Use plenty of barley, oats and legumes.
3. Avoid all sugar containing products. This includes fructose, glucose, sugar, corn syrup etc. Remember that sugar hinds under many different names so be careful, just because “sugar” is not written on the package doesn’t mean it doesn’t contain it.
4. Replace refined sugars with healthy ones. No calorie sweeteners are good, as well as honey and maple syrup (sparingly).
5. Eat a balanced diet of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and as we said before leave the refined sugars and flour out of it. Also fatty meats should be left out. Lean meats such as turkey etc are fine.
6. Exercise regularly and for at least 30 minutes a day. If you can live up to it, walking 1-2 miles 3-4 times a week is perfect.
7. Set realistic goals. Don’t aim to lose more then one or two pounds a week.
8. Consider buying Dr. Gott’s book (the creator of the no flour, no sugar diet) as it will help to explain many things.

A few points:
ReplyDeleteNo flour/no sugar does not include whole grains - rice is a whole grain and so is corn, and they are good food choices (if you choose wild/brown rice and whole corn).
"Whole wheat bread" is still made with flour - you need to use "whole grain bread" tnat states it is made without flour.
No calorie sweeteners are not healthy sugar substitutes...they are chemicals! Best choice is retrain your tastebuds to not need sweetness/sugar.
Lean meats are good, but fish is better (remember to choose fish that is low in mercury).
There are many resources available on the internet and in your local library to assist with making new choices and menu planning.
Good luck - and enjoy!
I would think that you would exclude sweeteners as they are just poison to your body just as sugar is. Some better examples are carob molasses, carob sugar, unrefined sugar cane syrup, sorghum molasses, and date sugar plus a natural glucose syrup made from rice and barley.
ReplyDeleteMaking sure that your honey is not strained with sugar as well . Know where your food comes from dont trust the supermarkets or the health food stores.
I agreed with you up until now. You're contradicting everything you previously stated.
ReplyDeleteFact is that starch of any kind needs to be eliminated from the diet. Grain is starch, so grain needs to be completely gone from the diet, too. The only sugar one should get is from fresh fruit. Always eat fruit as it's own meal.
